Former Royal Observation Corps Monitoring Post

*Guide Price £25,000-£35,000 plus fees. Online Livestream Auction on Thursday 18th February 2021 at 12:00. Former Royal Observation Corps Monitoring Post SW7248NE set in a triangular parcel of land measuring 0.15 acres approximately 2 miles from St Agnes. There were 1563 Royal Observation Corps Monitoring Post constructed around Britain's coasts during the Cold War period. The standard design was a reinforced concrete bunker consisting of a 14ft access shaft, a toilet and a monitoring room. They were operated by volunteers who carried out a nuclear reporting role. All the monitoring posts were closed in 1991. The St Agnes Royal Observation Corps Monitoring Post is set in a lovely rural position approximately 2 miles from the beautiful Cornish coast and the sought after village of St Agnes. The "Bunker" is set on a triangular parcel of land (CL225007) and access to this land is via right of way along a rustic vehicular track. This track will soon become part of the SAINTS TRAILS cycle track, but access to the bunker will be unaffected. See Legal Pack for detail.

Overview

The St Agnes "Bunker" was opened in 1961 and closed in 1991. It may have potential for a variety of uses subject to Cornwall Council Planning Permission. Clearly there is historic Cold War significance in sights like this and given its location close to the Cornish coast this is a rare opportunity to acquire and out of the ordinary piece of real estate.
