Since 1847, Farthingstone Baptist Chapel has been a hub of the village community. Having recently closed its doors to worshippers, the chapel is now looking for a new owner with the vision to reimagine or revive it.
The chapel will be auctioned for a guide price of £40,000 - £50,000 (plus fees) at their livestream event on Wednesday 23rd September.
Charming chapel for sale
The 19th century chapel’s warm red-brick exterior and quaint green porch immediately invite you inside.
Through the doors, you enter an open plan space measuring approximately 460 square feet. This bright and airy room is given a touch of drama by its 18-foot vaulted ceiling, which is criss-crossed by attractive timber trusses.
Other character features include the elegant arched windows and the chapel’s original pews. There is also a pulpit at the end of the chapel, which was where the clergy used to deliver their sermons.
Energy and water services are not currently connected, and some services may need to be reinstated.
Planning permission for conversion is not yet in place, but the property certainly has potential when it comes to transformation into a striking residence.
