North Wales - Meet the team: Daniel Lawrence

Having previously worked in the property industry before battling a stint of cancer in 2018, Daniel joined Auction House back in April as Area Manager for the North Wales region. With his knowledge of property, alongside his passion for networking, this role has been perfect for Daniel, and he now works closely with the Cheshire team.

“I have a mixed background in terms of my career. Back in 2015 I started working in corporate estate agency as a negotiator, before becoming a property valuer for around three to six months. I then became an assistant branch manager for a different company, and eventually became branch manager, however, shortly after this I was diagnosed with cancer.

Once I was transitioning out of hospital, I became an area manager for an independent estate agent in Chester. Before long I found myself working more in the business development side of things, for a referral platform built for estate agents. I wasn’t actively looking for a new role when the job at Auction House came up, but it ticked a lot of boxes for me with it being such a variable role and that was very appealing.”

As Area Manager for North Wales, Daniel has a diverse role which involves him carrying out many responsibilities, including valuing property, networking, and business development.

“I really enjoy the networking side of my role and building relationships with people from different backgrounds – it’s really interesting. Whether I’m speaking to solicitors, surveyors, finance brokers or even removal companies, there is always an opportunity to shed light on what auctions can offer and how they can benefit both parties.

“I also spend a lot of time valuing and marketing the properties we bring to auction, as well as dealing with the negotiations between the seller and buyer, so there is definitely an element of customer care in there as well.”

North Wales is unsurprisingly a popular destination for buyers due to its abundance of picturesque landscapes and the endless opportunities to embark on outdoor adventures.

“We see a real variety of properties coming to auction here, from your standard two up two down to rural parcels of land, barn conversions, and more recently we instructed a Grade II listed old toy shop. There is always something different to discover! That is one of the biggest draws of this job – you can really help someone in a positive way and building long lasting relationships with people mean you keep in touch and get to see what people do with a property once they have bought it.”

Daniel moved to Wales as a child and has lived there ever since and doesn’t plan on moving away from the area anytime soon.

“As a child I lived in a few different areas within Wales, including Llandudno, Conwy and Abergele. Just over a year ago I moved near St Asaph and I’m really enjoying it! It’s semi-rural but also accessible – so we have the freedom of the countryside but we’re easily able to pop down to the local towns quite quickly as well.

There are so many fantastic places to go hiking, climbing and paddle boarding which is great for someone like me who loves being outdoors and going on adventures. Of course, we have Snowdonia on our doorstep which is amazing, but I like to discover the hidden gems there rather than the more well-known walking routes.”

Outside of work, Daniel is a huge rugby fan, loves to be in the great outdoors, runs a street food burger business and enjoys the company of his two dogs.

“I love rugby and have played on my local side for over twenty years and now coach the under 14’s and 15’s team. I am very much an outdoors type of person and enjoy walking, hiking, paddleboarding, wild swimming and cross fit style training.

“I am a big foodie. I have a street food burger business selling ‘instagrammable’ burgers, the idea stemmed from a food blog where I would go to local businesses, try out their food and then rate them, but I wanted to give it a go myself and I absolutely love it.”
