Property auction highlights: Spectacular September

20.09.2023
Auction House Scotland

Our 13th of September auction saw some exciting lots go under the hammer, from run-down flats to Doctor Who style police boxes! We achieved an 89% success rate, selling 31 out of the 35 lots offered and raising over £1.9m for our sellers. Here are four highlight sales of the day:

Lot 1: 24 Wingate Street, Wishaw

Guide price: £29,000+ | Sold for: £43,000

Our first lot of the day got the auction off to a brilliant start. The spacious two-bedroom lower cottage flat was a bit of a fixer-upper and required a full refurbishment, making it a project for property investors and developers. It sold for a cool £14,000 (48%) above its guide price.

Lot 2: 44 Main Street, Isle of Whithorn

Guide price: £29,000+ | Sold for: £44,000

Our flying start continued with lot 2, an exciting development project in Dumfries and Galloway. The plot already had a derelict building but offered stunning harbour views, ideal for developers to transform into a variety of uses. The winning bidder was online, and it sold for £15,000 (52%) above its guide price.

Lot 18: Flat 3/3, 164 Great Junction Street, Edinburgh

Guide price: £59,500+ | Sold for: £139,000

This one-bedroom renovation project gained a lot of attention in the press due to its run-down interior. We had a huge number of interested bidders, all noticing the potential of this Leith flat to become a fantastic home or buy-to-let once complete. Competitive bidding from both in the room and online raised the price by a whopping £76,500 (that's 129% above guide price!)

Lot 20: 50 Brandon Terrace, Edinburgh

Guide price: £22,000+ | Sold for: £28,500

Our final lot for sale was our most unique - a former police box near Edinburgh's Royal Botanic Garden. Formerly used as a flower stop, with some imagination, it could serve a variety of business uses on the corner of a busy Edinburgh street. It sold for £6,500 (26%) above its guide price.

Our next in-room auction is happening on Thursday 2nd November at The Radisson RED Hotel in Glasgow. If you're looking to sell, contact us on 0141 339 4466 for a free auction valuation or click here.
