Sitting deep in one of Scotland’s most iconic glens, Beth-El Lodge is more than just a home. It’s a custom lifestyle shaped by stillness, nature, and thoughtful design.

Set against the dramatic backdrop of Glenshee, this beautifully crafted Highland cottage offers a rare blend of traditional character and contemporary comfort. But what truly sets it apart is the story behind it.

A slower life

For its owner Debora, the journey to Beth-El Lodge began during the uncertainty of the Covid pandemic.

“During lockdown I was in Manchester,” she recalls, “and I really wanted to move somewhere with more nature, space, and freedom.”

Scotland had already left its mark. The decision, in her words, was “a no brainer.” After six months of searching, the perfect plot appeared - and Debora secured it the very same day.

It’s easy to understand why. Tucked within the Cairngorms National Park, the setting is extraordinary. Munros rise behind the house, while the River Shee winds through the valley below. Here, the pace of life slows down.

The Highland vision

Beth-El Lodge was a deeply personal creation.

“It was my childhood dream to have a stone cottage in the Highlands,” Debora explains. “So, I designed it to be as Scottish as it comes.”

Completed in December 2023, the property reflects that vision remarkably. Built from granite with a slate roof and softened by timber cladding, it sits effortlessly within its surroundings - timeless, grounded, and authentic.

It's all in the details

The interiors are a masterclass in detail and intention. Italian marble floors flow through the ground level, catching the light and adding a quiet sense of luxury. In the kitchen, hand-painted Marlborough tiles depict local wildlife - hares, birds, hedgehogs - mirroring the very scenes that unfold just beyond the windows.

“Many times, I’m cooking or doing the dishes when I see a hare or a bird exactly like in the tiles,” Debora says. “It’s magical.”

That interplay between inside and out is a constant theme here. Large windows frame far-reaching views to the south, while natural materials and warm finishes create a space that feels both elevated and deeply comforting.

The result? A home that feels, as intended, “like a mini palace”, yet never loses its connection to the landscape around it.

Life at Beth-El Lodge

Ask what daily life looks like here, and the answer is refreshingly simple: slow.

“It begins with the birds singing the morning light through our bedroom window,” says Debora. “We often have a slow start to the day - tea, then a walk through the forest or around Dalmunzie or Balmoral if the weather allows.”

And when the Scottish weather rolls in?

“We cozy up indoors by the fire with a book.”

It’s a rhythm many aspire to but rarely achieve. A balance of tranquillity, nature, and comfort that feels increasingly valuable in today’s world.

Designed for Comfort, Built for Living

Beyond its beauty, Beth-El Lodge is also a practical home. Log burners and a traditional Rayburn provide efficient, cost-effective heating through the colder months, while the thoughtful use of natural light reduces energy demands year-round.

Every detail, from the layout to the furnishings, has been carefully considered to enhance both comfort and functionality.

But it’s the intangible qualities that linger most.

“The peace and quiet, the wildlife, the views through the windows,” Debora reflects. “Those are my three favourite things.”

A Rare Opportunity

Now offered to the market at a guide price of £445,000+, Beth-El Lodge presents a compelling opportunity for a range of buyers.

“I think it would really appeal to investors or second-home owners,” Debora notes. “If we were staying in the UK, we’d either keep it as a holiday home or turn it into a profitable Airbnb.”

And it’s not hard to see why.

With Glenshee Ski Centre just seven miles away, world-class walking routes on the doorstep, and the enduring appeal of the Cairngorms National Park, the location alone is a major draw. Combine that with a turnkey, design-led home, and the result is something truly special.

“I’m convinced people would pay a fortune to experience what life is like here,” she adds. “It really is a slice of paradise in the Scottish Highlands.”

See It for Yourself

For those keen to experience Beth-El Lodge in person, an open viewing will take place on Friday 24th April from 1–2pm. Step inside and take in the setting, the views, and the atmosphere for yourself.

The property is being offered for sale by auction, presenting an exciting and accessible route to secure a truly unique Highland home.
