Auction House South West hosted their second livestream auction of the year on Wednesday 25th March which delivered some fantastic sales and competitive bidding.
The auction’s catalogue contained 46 fantastic lots, including commercial investments, residential projects, and even a famous shed that was featured in a book by author Catrina Davies!
There was significant success even before the livestream took place, with 6 lots sold prior to auction day. By the close of the auction, 85% of lots had sold, raising over £4.6 million for clients.
Competitive bidding on Lot 1 delivers a strong start
Lot 1 encouraged active bidders from the outset. A two-bedroom detached house in the village of Par, Cornwall, benefitting from substantial gardens and outbuilding. Guided at £150,000, the popular property drew a handful of keen bidders before selling for £232,000.
Lot 3 sustained the initial auction excitement. Residential land and shed, and former home of renowned author Catrina Davies received attention from local media and press ahead of the auction. Guided at £80,000 - £100,000, the popular lot sold on the day for £155,000.
One bedroom renovation project in Exeter sells for nearly double the guide price
Strong interest for lot 44 began in the weeks prior to auction day, with a large number of registered bidders and property viewings that took place. 20 East Wonford Hill, a one-bedroom house in Exeter in need of full refurbishment was guided at £50,000. With many interested bidders on the day, the property sold for almost double it’s guide at £90,000.
Family homes with potential drives some of the strongest sales
Several of the most notable results came from large properties with potential to transform into family homes. 21 Belle Vue Road in Bristol, a four-bedroom terrace property was guided at £260,000 and sold for £335,000. Similarly, 5 Croft Road in Newton Abbot, a three-bedroom detached property was guided at £150,000 and sold for £273,000, reflecting the continued appetite for residential properties with scope for improvement.
